At COP26, the ecologist speaks on the need for technology in restoration efforts

As one of the most cited and quoted young ecologists, Thomas Crowther, who leads his namesake Crowther Lab at ETH Zurich that researches global ecosystems, came to the COP26 in Glasgow as a leading voice for the importance of landscape restoration for countering climate change.

His new platform Restor, developed with Google to assess the restoration potential of any landscape, was recently named a finalist for the esteemed Earthshot Prize, and he sits as co-chair of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Here, he talks about his new initiatives, ideas and what restoration means to him.
