Forest activist Wangari Maathai’s legacy lives on in Brazil

BONN, Germany (Landscape News) — Five years after her death, the forest advocacy efforts of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai were commemorated at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany during the Global Landscapes Forum, Dec. 19-20. Almost a thousand delegates gathered to witness Maria Margarida Ribeiro Da Silva from Brazil receive the Wangari Maathai Forest Champions Award. Listen:
